Our first home game against Chelsea with a shiny new manager.
Pochettino has told his players not to worry about their defensive duties and go full throttle attack
Moyes has said he has changed his ways and going to play on the front foot.

Should be interesting

COME ON YOU MIGHTY EUROPEAN CHAMPION IRONSSSSSSSS

Gonna be a tricky one. As for playing on the front foot... well, look forward to seeing that.

Thanks, Charley!

I think Moyes is using mind games. Pochettino will expect front foot changes, but Moyes will surprise him by playing the same.

Looking forward to this, love playing this bunch and we often get the better of them and why not this time!
(That is a rhetorical question please don’t answer, especially if you see a black future)

Thanks Charley

Will be interesting to see how we line up? No doubt the same as Bournemouth though.Edson and Ward-Prowse not ready.

Edson I doubt we will see much of this side of the international break as he hasn't had a pre-season and Moyes has form for this, but surely Ward Prowse will be in the squad

In truth, dreading the 5 hr commute to and from the running track for an inevitable slap from a side that buys multimillion players like the Duchess buys frocks

Still, never know I suppose and it's the hope that does for me

On the bright side, a day out with my lad is never a bad thing

They look a fairly strong athletic side with a good range of passing. James crosses will be a problem if he is fit. I have to say they looked quite open though. Quite a lot of space if you can get out and get at them. Since that hasnt been how we play I think we could be dominated a bit here and have to ride our luck to get a result.
It will likely be down to set plays for us to get anything.

Defensively they’re not so great. JWP fee kick. We win 1-0. Will their top boy be there again, I wonder. Weak chins all round.

I shall be in my seat as usual but bad feeling this will not end well after watching the plastics against the bin dippers..... We look way behind unfortunately.

MOYESIES claret n blue army!

we going to ruin them with their tactics and £100 million fancy Dans.
A good straightener in the first 10 mins to put them in their place a dominant defensive display and attacking to our strengths.

3-1 Irons.

ANTONIO - farewell goal

Nailed on loss. Negative shit football, hope for a free kick shit from Moyes if he even pays JWP. Alvarez apparently not going to play, fucking absurd.

But who will be captain? Feels like JWP might eventually end up as captain, but to give him the armband straight away would seem a bit off, but Moyes appears to have zero man management skills, the man is a like an autistic freddy krueger. JWP captain it is then.

Charley, ted, all..

We have done OK against this lot in recent seasons and I suppose that is where the hope is, but I fear we are playing them at the wrong time, they looked pretty good last week and now had a full weeks training, and brought in new players this week. Can't say I'm confident but haven't ruled out some kind of result.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread
We, played them at absolutely the right time last season, they had about 5 debutants with no PL experience, should have been at least three up by the time they scored as we sat back and allowed them the freedom of the park. We then decided to get on the front foot and created a few chances before equalising and then reverting to giving them the freedom of the park and miraculously holding on for a point. Which was lorded by Moyes and his lovers as a great point, only to be proved otherwise as they lost most games after and didn't win again for months.

The Chelsea I saw Sunday were much better, so if we go in with the same attitude, I can't see us getting anything.

Can't say I'm looking forward to it :-)

Also remember that first time we played them last season was at their place and VAR absolutely robbed us and Bowen. All the referees agreed it was a massive inexcusable VAR fuck up, after the game, but that didn't get us any points returned. I think it actually knocked a good bit of confidence out of us certainly didn't help us.

Vexed: I value some of your posts on here, but this negativity from you so early is a bit hasty. Give the beggars a fecking chance to at least kick off. One game, an away point. Not brill, but not disastrous either. You may be proved right, of course - it’s us, West Ham against one of the mega-bucks crowd. So, please, at least spare us the precipitous doom and gloom and allow us the possibility that we can, somehow, turn them over. It’s usually the hope that kills you - but your posts even deny us that indulgence.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread
Mex - The away game against Chelsea was similar a Moyesball master class. We didn't cross halfway first half, turgid shit with Fornals playing wing back against a Chelsea who's manager was under threat of the sack they were so bad. We came out second half played a bit, created a few chances scored, sat back they equalised.. They went ahead we threw the kitchen sink at them and they looked shit and were lucky. It doesn't change the fact we would have best them if we weren't so fucking negative..

Playing both Alvarez & JWP would improve our chances, but with Moyes in charge who knows what he wil do.
